YSaC, Vol. 1430: It’s for lion down with.

2013 January 18
by drmk

One of the most important things in writing a good Craigslist ad is being specific. Make sure that your potential buyer knows the details of your item.

TAC blanket – Lion – $50

This blanket is like new 77″ X55″ TAC blanket with lion motif. Machine washable 75% acrylic 25% Olefin. xxx-xxxx

Yep, it’s all in the details. Your buyer now knows exactly what size the blanket is, knows exactly what it’s made of and its care requirements, and knows that you spend your spare time watching Honey Boo Boo and eating paste.

Thanks, vassagox!

It is time now, Oh my Not.A.Lion friends, for us to gird up our loins (lions?) and hunt out those masquerading as members of our hallowed tribe, and slaughter them. We start by searching CraigsList. Happy eating, my lovelies.

        Dear Bombdude,
I hate you. When I am suffering night terrors tonight and for the next 3 years, I will be calling you to complain.
        Sincerely,

If it helps at all, Tank Girl, I knew Cat. Mike and I and the kids saw him at many local sci fi conventions. He was a really nice person. He passed away recently, and it’s kind of good to see this picture of him. Rest in peace, I hope he has come to terms with his physical form at last.

I’m not sure what a “TAC” blanket is, but I can’t help thinking the “TA” stands for “Tits Aside”.

        It’s CAT backwards.

Does that mean the blanket is wrong-side up?

          Adores: 5
        • 2013 January 18

Exactly. The lion side is on the bottom.

My confusion no doubt stems from wanting them to be together not cast aside willy-nilly (or even willy nelson).

Just don’t get it too close to the nacho fountain. Even though it’s machine-washable, cheese stains can be a beast to get out.

I’m more concerned about the olefin. I mean, I gave up feeding my not.a.lion tunafish out of concern. I didn’t know I had to be worried about their use in blankets.

Giving us the information on the fabric type reminds me of an unrelated story. I don’t do want to bore you with it so here it is.

I just picked up my new pair of glasses. (This was in 2001) The lady who helped with the final fitting told me to use only 100% cotton on my lenses.
    Like terry cloth?
    No, never use terry cloth.
    Isn’t terry cloth 100% cotton?
Yes, but holds dust particles that will scratch your lenses.
Maybe I can use a patch of denim.
No, here, I’ll let you use one of these. In fact I’ll give you two.

What she gave me was two Scotch Brite™ microfiber cloths. They were 80% Polyester and 20% Nylon. 0% cotton.
I can’t make this stuff up.
