YSaC, Vol. 401: I must be in the FRONT row!

looking for 1 ticket – good seat please – $1

willing to buy up til 5pm… tonight

That’s it. That’s the entire ad.

It’s interesting that they’re more concerned about a getting good seat than say, what the seat is for. “I’d like to go out tonight. I don’t care if I go to a tractor pull or Götterdämmerung, but darnit, I want a good seat!”

Also, as of three full weeks after the ad was posted, it was still up.

Thanks to Jonathan for sending this one along!

This is brilliant performance art, don’t you know. They post an ad, wait for an offer of any kind, and then act as though the event is EXACTLY what they’ve been waiting for. That the event is the second coming, if you will.

Then they go to the event and take part enthusiastically, while filming it for their video blog.

So far, they’ve seen a middle school musical, a roller derby, a bondage show, an all gay ballet troupe, and the American Idol tour.

—Wait a minute….now I have the idea for MY blog!!! No one take my idea!!!

Oh man, that idea is awesome.

For goodness sake, if you really do it, let me know.

I bet that would be loads of fun to do, and read about.

I think I might actually do this now. I kept laughing about it, and telling my friends…and every time it was, “Wait…you really should do that. It could be pretty damn funny.”

Sooooo…..we will see how it get’s off the ground.

I’m trying to come up with the parameters. I mean, if I just went to a bunch of high priced events I paid for, it would be boring. I’m thinking shows and events I either pay VERY little for, or maybe just anything I can win or get for free.

And I’d want to pass myself off as a VERY enthusiastic fan of whatever it was I was taking part in.

I’m already a comic book nerd, so I have a headstart on being a dork.

This could be fun…I’ll let you know how it goes, guys!

I should post a reply… “I have a ticket! Just come to my house and pick it up.”

(In keeping with the “vague” thing, and all… )

This is a desperately lonely single person. Some day, the right ticket will lead this poster to the person of his or her dreams. They’ll fall in love right there in the theatre/stadium/opera house, and in a month or so hold their wedding on the stage/field/set of Il Travatore and start a life together with no basis in reality. Makes me a little misty-eyed.

If they’re only willing to pay one dollar for a ticket, they really can’t be too picky about what event they’ll be attending. Even the small music venues and community theatre groups where I live charge at least $10 (in fact, the worst of the bunch charges $15 to sit in the back of the house. On a bar stool. For two or more hours of pure dreck.) For a buck, they could probably get front row seats to karaoke night at one of the local dive bars…

Funny you should mention Götterdämmerung. I saw Siegfried Thursday night, and am missing Götterdämmerung right now.

$1 will get them a city bus ticket, and they can sit wherever they want.

Dude, don’t you know Shakespeare in the Park is free? All you have to do is get there early and you can sit in the front. Save your $1.
