YSaC, Vol. 1549: Fuzzy puzzle in a puddle

1000-piece puzzle

I have a thousand-piece puzzle that has obviously suffered water damage at some point in the past. Some of the pieces are a bit warped, and there may be white and/or pink mold on some of them, but it does have all pieces. I would not recommend this puzzle for anyone with any kind of immune condition, just in case. I can bring it to [location] with me, or you can pick it up here, but I will not deliver it unless you wish to buy it or have something to offer in trade. The puzzle is this one: http://www.junglee.com/Piece-Sacred-Spaces-Puzzle-Night-Messenger/dp/B000GKAXQA

My first reaction is that “free” is too much to charge for this, unless it also comes with its own hazmat suit.

My second reaction is that Sparky seems to be fairly unclear on the definition of “free” based on their insistence that the interested party be willing to part with money and/or another object in order to acquire this biohazard.

My third reaction is to wonder if the mold will make the puzzle easier or harder to assemble. “Huh, here’s another piece with pink mold on it — this one must ALSO go in the upper left-hand corner!”

Thanks, Anne!

Here I am, trying to give away a perfectly good wingback chair formerly infested with mice, free towel included to cover the chewed up cushion, and probably no one will even look at it once they read about this puzzle! Life is so unfair!

Happy Independence Day, Amurica! Happy Getting Rid of Those Pesky Colonists Day, England! Happy Milliner’s Day, Canada!

As opposed to the Sparky who isn’t?

Not to rain on your parade, but it sounds like the requirement for something in exchange only applies if you want the puzzle delivered. If you go where Sparky already is, you can pick it up for free; if you want delivery service, you have to be buying it.

      Hmm . . .
Me: You still have that puzzle?
      Sparq’: Rutebega.
M: Fine, I’ll come pick it up; you are at [address] in [location], correct?
      S: Kumquat.
M: Now, so you’ll recognize me, I’ll be in a yellow Suit, and I’ve got some friends with a van, they will have blue suits and some white suits. Don’t worry, ‘Hazmat’ is a fine old Huguenot name, so don’t be alarmed.
      S: Endive?
M: Sure, when you hear the sirens, it will be better if you go lay down in the middle of the front yard, face down, hands behind your head, ankles crossed [interruption]–no, it’s a yoga pose, so that you will gain the most value, spiritually, from this experience; we’re helpers that way.

This is right up my alley!!!! I always work jigsaw puzzles with a good pair of sharp scissors handy. I could snip off the mold, as well as the bits of puzzle pieces that might need “adjusting.”….Happy July Fourth!! and let’s be careful with those fireworks!!!!….p,s, OMV (below) you look different today..no make-up?

You know, this type of thing wouldn’t happen if purchasing new puzzles to put together was one of the less expensive entertainment venues available on the market nowadays.

*looks at price of new puzzle*

Okay, maybe it would, because it did.

I have a Rubik’s cube that is oozing some sort of toxic substance, and a Scrabble board with all of the vowels missing. Fancy a trade?

Hey, that Czech Scrabble game is not supposed to have any vowels in it. (Very disconcerting to have a player say “Hey, I’m four tiles short of spelling this word” in the opening round . . . )

TC, you and Ducky probably set off lots of fireworks in the box yesterday. Had to say it, because not one person went to the corners on the 4th! And we have a reputation to uphold with Google Ads. Punchity Punch Punch!

    Good Morning, Jigsaw Killer!
